WHY LUXEMBOURG?

Country at the heart of Europe.

Luxembourg may be one of Europe’s smallest countries, but it’s packed with charm, history, and natural beauty. This landlocked nation boasts a unique mix of French and German cultures, reflected in its cuisine, architecture, and way of life. Visitors can wander the cobbled streets of the old town of Luxembourg City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or explore the country’s many castles, fortresses, and historic ruins.

With its friendly locals, free public transport, and a variety of cultural events throughout the year, Luxembourg is an ideal destination for a memorable European getaway.

Surrounded by nature

The rolling hills of the Ardennes and the picturesque Moselle Valley offer breathtaking scenery and opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and kayaking.

Wine heaven

Moselle Valley is home to some of the country’s best wines. The valley’s steep slopes and mineral-rich soil create the perfect conditions for growing grapes, and the vineyards here produce excellent white wines, particularly Riesling, Auxerrois, and Pinot Gris.

A little bit of Luxembourg’s history

Luxembourg has a rich history dating back to the Roman era when it was an important strategic location due to its position at the crossroads of important trade routes. Throughout the Middle Ages, Luxembourg was ruled by various European powers, including the Holy Roman Empire and the French. In 1839, it gained independence as a grand duchy under the rule of the House of Nassau-Weilburg.

During World War II, Luxembourg was occupied by Nazi Germany, and it was not until 1949 that it became a founding member of the United Nations and the European Economic Community. Today, Luxembourg is a prosperous nation and a hub for finance, technology, and logistics.

When Spring mornings give
their gift of ancient voices, the streets
in Luxembourg smile with open markets,
roses stitched on windows: Siegfried, Mélusine.
I meet them in museums, side-walk cafés.
Legends playing hide-and-go-seek.
